The sight of the Balaton-felvidék buttes is basically a symbol of this Blue Trail route. From the green vineyards in the skirts of the island-like rising mountains, we also climb the hilltops offering magnificent views and can also descend into the cool depths of the wine cellars.
Perhaps there is no other part of the country whose life is so extremely affected by seasonal changes: the hustle and bustle during the summer is so spectacularly contrasted with the atmosphere of the frosty, deserted waterfront resort in winter that it’s as if we are walking on different terrains in the two seasons.
We enter the territory of the Balaton-felvidék with the 4th route of the National Blue Trail. We embark on the "Keszthely Riviera", immerse ourselves in the forests of the Keszthely Mountains to arrive at Vállus on the northern side. We climb to the Kő orra lookout point, from where the view of our later section, the Tapolca Basin and the buttes show itself. We walk to Lesenceistvánd among abundant vineyards, then from here we reach Tapolca on a ruthless asphalt section.
