Supriya Vani & Carl A. Harte: Jacinda Ardern: Leading with Empathy

Jacinda Ardern was swept to office in 2017 on a wave of popular enthusiasm dubbed 'Jacindamania'. In less than three months, she rose from deputy leader of the opposition to New Zealand's highest office. Her victory seemed heroic. Few in politics would have believed it possible; fewer still would have guessed at her resolve and compassionate leadership, which, in the wake of the horrific Christchurch mosque shootings of March 2019, brought her international acclaim. Since then, her decisive handling of the COVID-19 pandemic has seen her worldwide standing rise to the point where she is now celebrated as a model leader. In 2020 she won a historic, landslide victory and yet, characteristically, chose to govern in coalition with the Green Party.

Jacinda Ardern: Leading with Empathy carefully explores the influences - personal, social, political and emotional - that have shaped Ardern. Peace activist and journalist Supriya Vani and writer Carl A. Harte build their narrative through Vani's exclusive interviews with Ardern, as well as the prime minister's public statements and speeches and the words of those who know her. We visit the places, meet the people and understand the events that propelled the daughter of a small-town Mormon policeman to become a committed social democrat, a passionate Labour Party politician and a modern leader admired for her empathy and courage.

Emőke Bagdy: Álmok, szimbólumok, terápiák

This book was born from my favorite writings. Throughout the writing process, I already felt the joy of being able to present in them what I think about spiritual processes, dreams, symbols, and the mysterious world of psychotherapeutic work. I can also show how I work in the spiritual force field when we are not walking the usual paths of communication, but in the more ancient dream language, in the multifaceted domain of images, on symbolic spiritual paths.

I love this world because I have been able to experience that our awake or nocturnal dreams communicate the pure truth, the most important thing we need to be aware of needs to be understood. To do this, however, we must learn the language of symbols.I also present some therapeutic case studies that are only known by my specialist colleagues, which have not been made public so far. However, I decided to open the door of secrets and invite those interested in it into the (often mystified) world of psychotherapy.

I recommend this book to all those who are struggling alone or in social solitude in this inhuman world, in search of a worthy existence, an understanding soul. My message is: look around, there is help, do not be afraid, you are not alone.

David Attenborough: Life on Earth

The book, which has become a classic, and the film series made from it have enchanted and introduced generations to the amazingly rich wildlife of our Earth. The first edition of Life on Earth was published in 1979 on the 170th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin, the father of the theory of evolution. This new edition, revised and supplemented with the latest findings of scientific research, will rightly captivate those who read the first version back then, while also bringing to life the old experiences in new readers. In the energizingly rich book, with the help of abundant imagery and the guidance of David Attenborough, we can follow the history of the living world of our planet from the first spark of life to present day.

Sir David Attenborough (1926) is the world’s best-known and most popular British nature filmmaker. His career as a scientist and in the media spans nearly seventy years. He has made legendary BBC film series that have become classics by today, such as Life on Earth (1979), The Living Planet (1984), The Trials of Life (1990), The Private Life of Plants (1995), The Life of Birds (1998), The Blue Planet (2001), The Life of Mammals (2002), Planet Earth (2006) and Life in Cold Blood (2008). His latest book, A Life on Our Planet, summarizing his career and urging action to protect our Earth, was published in Hungarian in 2020.

Edgar Allan Poe: The Gold-Bug

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle believed Edgar Allan Poe breathed life into detective stories. And who could be a bigger expert on this than the creator of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes? The Gold-Bug publishes the best and most famous short stories of Poe, who is considered to be the father of crime: mysticism, secret and dark forces come to life in the narratives dealing with creepy (sin) cases.

The short story is the creepy story of a treasure hunt; The plot of the Oblong Box revolves around a mysterious baggage and its tragic contents; The narrator of the Oval Portrait finds a strange and beautiful female portrait in an abandoned castle; The Tell-Tale Heart is the narrative of a mad killer whom Stephen King called the first sociopath killer in world literature; And the short story The Fall of the House of Usher tells the story of the destruction of an ancient aristocratic family and home.

Poe is the most peculiar figure in 19th-century American literature, who, in addition to his lyrical-allegorical poetry, has been elevated to the greats of world literature with his detective stories and criminal short stories designed by masterful logic.
