Louvre online

Now anyone can walk through the huge halls of the Louvre free of charge, admiring one of the richest collections in the world. The virtual exhibition of the Parisian Museum now houses the entire exhibition, with almost 480,000 works of art available to everyone.

Visitors can browse the collection with a simple and complex search, but can also view individual collections or thematic albums. The interactive map allows you to explore the building from room to room. The website is constantly expanded as new pieces in the collection are digitized.

From the Mona Lisa to Venus de Milo, the most important memories of the great historical eras are evoked by the grandiose virtual exhibition spaces: sculptures, paintings, jewelry and much more await those who are interested. Photos can be viewed in full screen mode or downloaded.

“The Louvre dusts off its treasures, including the lesser-known ones. For the first time, anyone can access the entire art collection, all you need is an internet connection and a smart device or desktop computer.” - said Jean-Luc Martinez, president and director of the Louvre, about the online exhibition, while expressing the hope that the online museum visit will awaken people's desire to visit these special artefacts in person when the museum reopens.

The Louvre is the largest exhibition space in the French capital, and its collection includes monuments not only of European, but also of Egyptian, Islamic, Eastern, Greek and Etruscan culture. Before the epidemic, there was huge traffic, with about 10 million people visiting the building, which was originally designed a castle, reminiscent of the French Renaissance style. The glass pyramid built in front of the museum has already provided the basis for countless urban legends, but even after Dan Brown’s book The Da Vinci Code and the film made from it, plenty of conspiracy theories emerged.
