Program recommendations at Lake Balaton and Budapest

Sweet Days Budapest

The sweetest weekend of the year, Sweet Days chocolate - and sweets festival awaits candy lovers between 17-19 September 2021 on St. Stephen’s square in front of the Basilica. After Perugia, Tübingen and Obidos, the Budapest Sweet Days is the 4th largest outdoor dessert-themed event in Europe.

In recent years, Hungarian chocolate and confectionery manufacturers receive the most prestigious professional awards in Europe, thus the quality change we experience in gastronomy in general reaches confectioneries, and the confectioner profession also receives appreciation.

In previous years, in addition to the best chocolate and confectionery manufacturers, visitors could also taste the delicacies of famous confectioneries. We will soon find out who will introduce themselves this year.

Budapest Wine Festival

Europe’s most beautiful wine festival, the Budapest Wine Festival will be held for the 30th time between 23-26 September 2021 in the Budavár Palace. At the World Heritage Site, enjoying the most impressive panorama of the capital, visitors can taste thousands of wines from domestic and foreign exhibitors and of course, excellent wines and professional programs are accompanied by a colorful gastronomic offer and cultural program.

The Wine Festival offers a varied program this year as well. On the opening day, the Csík band will go on stage and we can also hear János “James” Karácsony and Misi Mező perform, promising a unique concert experience. Saturday will be Hungarian Jazz Day, with well-known talents and hidden talents waiting to be discovered.

St. Michael's Day carnival

Join St. Michael's Day carnival on 25 September 2021 in Balatongyörök!  Everyone is welcome to attend between 10 am and 7 pm on the square by the church.

St. Michael's Day was a notable turning point of the financial year in the entire Hungarian-speaking area. This is when harvest and the autumn season of weddings began.

In Balatongyörök the patron saint of the Roman Catholic church is also St. Michael, so the carnival always played an important role in the life of the settlement.
