The starting point of the more than a thousand-kilometer-long legendary route of the National Blue Trail and the highest point of Transdanubia is the Írott-kő. From the valleys of the beautiful Kőszeg Mountains and the lookouts offering alpine panoramas, we descend to the flattest area of ​​the whole Blue Trail to reach the banks of the Rába.

The National Blue Trail, hiding many sights and natural wonders, starts from the western border of Hungary. In the mountains we wander from lookout to lookout, in the valleys running between them we find several springs to quench our thirst. Heading along this route on the slopes of the Kőszeg Mountains we reach Little Alfold and after we can roam the Transdanubian Central Mountains lying ahead of us.  We can spend several days in historical Kőszeg, as it has many sights to offer.

Moving on, a long pilgrimage begins in the flat countryside, where we no longer have to overcome large level differences. Our journey passes small villages, hidden castles, arboretums, old churches. Between them in the forests we reach Sárvár, where we can visit the castle and relax in the spa.

TIPS

The main attractions of the route include the Írott-kő Lookout Tower, the Írott-kő nature trail, the Óház Lookout Tower, the important historical town of Kőszeg and the Jurisics Castle, Gradics Spring, Sárvár Castle and Spas.

With a small detour you can reach several sights, such as the Blue Trail Monument, the Suleiman Lookout (Kőszeg) and much more!
