This autumn Bank Center organized a blood donation in cooperation with the National Blood Transfusion Service. The first blood donors arrived to the conference room before the start of the business day.  Blood donors could refresh with the freshly squeezed juices of Mr. Fruit delicatessen and the strudels offered by the Strudel House.

After the blood donation, NBTS emphasized that almost 30% of the applicants were first blood donors, which is a significant percentage. In view of the great success, we are planning the next occasion in the springtime and hope that the number of donors will increase.

Donors should be aware of the fact that the short expiry blood product produced from blood taken during donations can only be used for 5 days, so the continuity of blood donations is very important.  Furthermore, the supply for domestic health care institutions can be ensured by around 390,000 blood donations annually, therefore 1600-1800 blood donors per workday are needed for a continuous and safe supply.

Make sure you arrive to blood donations after eating, ensure the proper amount of fluid intake, and have your documentation prepared.

We can save up to three lives with one blood donation, so we are hopeful that participants will donate blood regularly and we will be able to greet them again at the next Bank Center blood donation!
