Spend the last month of winter actively!

The Busó Festival of Mohács

Between February 24 and March 1, the Busó Festival of Mohács will be held, where we say goodbye to winter and greet spring.

Hundreds of masqueraders say goodbye to winter in Mohács at Hungary’s oldest and best-known winter carnival.

The most popular of the colorful programs are the carnival parade, the various buso performances, live cooking and the introduction of various folk-dance groups.

The whole program is meant to present the tastes and traditions of Mohács, which is enriched by the programs of numerous guest speakers. Food tastings, buso mask carving, workshop visits, buso parade and bonfire lighting add to the multi-day series of events.

Visit domestic skating rinks and ski slopes

Many people love ice skating and skiing, not just because they provide an enjoyable pastime, but also because it has beneficial effects both physically and mentally.

Skating includes all the elements of fitness. It can be pursued for a lifetime, either individually or in groups. Skating strengthens the lower muscles of the body, and jumps can build bone mass.

Skating also improves balance, flexibility, speed and agility. It supports cardiovascular function, the health of joints, it has a beneficial effect on the respiratory system due to the alternation of aerobic and anaerobic power, thereby reducing asthmatic symptoms, improving coordination skills and a sense of balance.

There are ice rinks in many parts of Budapest, so this fun form of movement is easily accessible. In the immediate vicinity of Bank Center, you can visit the Belvárosi Korizó on Szabadság Square.  A little further we can slide at the Bálna Skating Rink or the City Park Ice Rink, all of which are open until the end of February!

Besides skating, skiing also has a positive effect on the whole body and the soul. It provides a wonderful experience, perfect relaxation, brings you closer to nature, it serves spiritual and physical recreation. Many variations of skiing are known, such as downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, backcountry skiing and more.

Continuous, symmetrical movement develops both cerebral hemispheres, not to mention movement coordination skills. Skiing moves the entire body, strengthening the muscles and the heart and circulatory system. Skiing is both physical and mental training, which also has a community-forming power. It improves sense of balance and flexibility and works not only the legs and torso but also the arm muscles.
