Adventus Domini

The word advent refers to the Latin phrase "Adventus Domini", which means: the arrival of the Lord, the coming of the Lord. It is a holy expectation that precedes the coming of the Messiah, the Saviour. We wait for four weeks for the mystery of Christmas to mature in us, so that we can receive God, the Lord of Life in a worthy manner, who comes among us as a child.

In ancient times, when the ruler visited a city, the city started preparations. Sometimes even a road had to be built so that the king could more easily approach the city, which was accordingly decorated.

When we await the arrival of the King of Kings, we aim to tidy up not only our environment and homes, but also prepare our hearts and reconcile our human relationships.

The Advent season, which is also the last month of the year, is an opportunity to get ready and open our souls for receiving the coming God.

During these weeks, we try to pay attention to the essence, to put our souls first.

Advent, as the name suggests, is the time of preparation: every day we have to ask ourselves, whose arrival are we waiting for? Do we care that someone is visiting us to renew our lives?

God appeared in the flesh, but his desire is to be present in our lives through his spirit, waiting for us to open our hearts to him.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him, and he with Me. Revelation 3:20

We wish that this year, at the end of the Advent season, we can say with childlike faith on Christmas night: Emmanuel, God with us!
