World Water Day is an event held every year on March 22. Its purpose is to draw attention to the importance of clean water available to everyone and to the vulnerability of fresh water resources. The World Day was initiated by the United Nations General Assembly in 1992, following the International Conference on Environment and Development held in Rio de Janeiro, and was held for the first time a year later, in 1993.
This year's World Water Day draws attention to the fact that the solution to the crisis threatening our waters and environment lies in accelerating the steps taken in the right direction.
Among the Sustainable Development Goals is the objective to ensure accessible and sustainable water management for everyone by 2030.
