Bank Center Lobby

Győző Bihon has developed his artistic technique with great care during recent years.  Beyond his creative imagination, he uses modern equipment such as digital cameras, computers and drones for planning his compositions.  The world wide web and the functions accessible in Google Earth, such as enlarging aerial images to the desired scale, are especially suitable for analyzing cityscapes, while drones, now accessible to anyone, can help us to explore our patria from a bird’s eye view.  Although maps, aerial photographs, computer displays and mobile phone screens are two-dimensional, Bihon has not given up on the third dimension and builds his paintings like model-train layouts.  In addition to thickly applied paint, he uses a wide range of materials: paper, sand, plastic, wood, textiles, metal, etc.  Since the depicted landscape is shown from above, when the panel is suspended on the wall, the world takes a 90-degree turn and the viewer facing the painting can for a second experience soaring in the sky.

-Zoltán Rockenbauer, curator of the Műcsarnok

Bihon’s works can be found in private and public collections in Hungary and abroad.  The owner of several painting prizes, in 2022 he received first prize of the Society of Hungarian Painters in the Cityscape competition.  The artist currently lives and works in Szentendre.

The exhibition can be viewed in the lobby of Bank Center until 30 April 2023.
