Peter Wohlleben: Értsük meg a fákat

"Each tree tells a thousand stories about what shaped its character, what scarred its bark and its being, what made it unique."

The trees are seemingly silent in our garden, in the park, in the forest, but they not only communicate with each other, they also send signals to us. If we pay attention. If we understand their "language". With certain signs, they let us know what state they are in and what they need. What color are the leaves? Are they stained? What causes a part of the trunk to thicken into a bottle shape? How do we know that a tree is "thirsty" or "sunstruck"? Those who can interpret the signs can not only glimpse into a world unknown to them, but also become aware of how much nature can do for the health of these wonderful creatures, and for the protection of the environment and nature.

Peter Wohlleben (1964) has been training to become a conservationist since childhood. He studied forestry, and nowadays he manages an environmentally friendly forest farm in the Eifel Mountains. He is a guest of many TV shows and a popular speaker.

József Jolán: A város peremén - Helikon Zsebkönyvek 104.

Jolán József (1899-1950) wrote two highly successful books about his younger brother: a more scientific, factual biography - József Attila élete (1940) - and the biographical novel that can be read in this volume (1950). After the death of their mother in December 1919, Jolán took in Attila and his sister Etus and took care of them for years together with her husband, Ödön Makai, who was also Attila's official guardian.  On the one hand, it is one of the most important sources for those who want to study the life and poetry of Attila József, and on the other hand, it is a novel by a talented writer, which, in addition to the often shocking events of the great poet's life, also provides a graphic description of the period.  Jolán József herself experienced the misery and vulnerability of the proletarians of the Horthy era, which seems almost unbelievable today, and her book still touches the heart of the reader. Perhaps the greatest value of the work is that it shows the desire for knowledge and dedication that worked in Attila József even at a young age, and how many sacrifices he had to make in order to become the poet that many people still name as their greatest favorite.
