Introduction

Relive the '70s and '80s at the Budapest Retro Experience Centre! The three-storey interactive exhibition is a real time capsule, with a Lada police car, a Retro Buffet and a complete news studio.

Visit

TV bears, pioneer camps, Monchhichi and whispery sweatpants - all words that will bring you back to the 70s in a flash. These and, of course, many other exciting exhibits are on display for those who spend a few hours at the Budapest Retro Experience Centre. The exhibition goes far beyond most domestic exhibitions, as guests can take a plunge into the picture book of a bygone era with the help of modern interactive tools.

On the lowest level, a street scene of the Gazdagrét housing estate comes to life, where visitors can even hop into a real police Lada. If you'd prefer a taste of TV glamour instead of patrolling, head to the authentic set of the Newsreel! The three-storey complex features opening panel blocks, a party president's office, period home decorations, relics and even a section dedicated to Bertalan Farkas.

Dining facilities

To add to the nostalgia, you can replace the calories lost during the experience in the museum's own Bistro. There's a whole host of retro delicacies to choose from, including hot dogs, flatbread, pink mignon and the inevitable greasy bread. If that wasn't enough, there's even a daily menu to add to the palette. While you dine, the fractured mosaic floor, the patina jukebox and the ultra-swanky bar stools take time travel to a new level.

Event

The Budapest Retro Experience Centre was born out of a desire for quality entertainment, making it not only a great family venue, but also an outstanding event venue. Whether it's a wedding photo shoot, a team-building session or an unconventional class, it's hard to find a more characterful capital venue for shared experiences.

Approach

The Experience Centre is located next to Elisabeth Square, at 4 Október 6. utca. Starting from Nyugati Railway Station, follow Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Street towards Deák Ferenc Square and then turn into József Attila Street. From Nyugati, you can also take buses 9, 15 or 115, or trolleybus 72M or 73M.
